Charity fund named after Alexander Molodchiy (twice the Soviet Union hero) was established to meet numerous requests of physically disabled and war veterans in Chernihiv region.
The fund is aimed at social defense, satisfying financial needs and offering other aid to physically disabled and war veterans, victims of Chernobyl catastrophe, sick people of advanced age, lonely and people with small means, orphans and disabled children, social, medical and educational institutions.
The fund work is carried out in a mutual collaboration with governmental authorities and institutions, local authorities, cooperative and social organizations, legal entities and compassionate people.
Military General
Alexander Molodchiy (27.06.1920-9.06.2002) is a twice Soviet Union hero, an air force lieutenant-general and an honorable freeman of Chernihiv (Ukraine). He used to be one of the founders of the Soviet Union strategic air force.
Alexander Molodchiy was born on June, 27 in 1920 in Luhansk, Ukraine. In 1937 he entered Air-force school and finished it in 1938. He performed 311 sorties while 287 of them at night. He participated in bombardment of large enemy objectives. Altogether his executive military mission experience is equal to 600 thousand kilometers. Molodchiy's plane flew about 190,000 kilometers over the enemy territory and dropped more than 200 tons of bombs on different military and industrial objectives. He was awarded with numerous medals and honours.
Alexander Molodchiy was given the rank of the Soviet Union hero and rewarded with the Lenin order and the "Golden Star" medal on October, 22 in 1941, according to the ukase of the Supreme Soviet Presidium of the USSR. Later he was honoured by the second "Golden Star" medal on December, 31 in 1942.
After the war Alexander Molodchiy graduated from the Joint staff Academy and occupied an important position in the Air force. Meanwhile he had become the author of the following books: "В пылающем небе" ("In the blazing sky"), "Самолет уходит в ночь" ("Plane flies away into the night"). In 1962 he became the air force lieutenant-general and was transferred to the reserve in 1965.
Strategic rocket carrier TU-160, which bears name of Alexander Molodchiy, was employed as an armament to the Russian Air forces on May, 2001. Alexander Molodchiy's bust made of bronze was established in Luhansk. The great pilot died on June, 9 in 2002.
